A flexible packaging container made of foldable material in the form of a bottom-fold sack or bag consists of a tubular sack or bag having at least two layers. The two side edges of the inner layer lie flush with one another in the tube walls while the outer layer has side edges of its tube walls which are reciprocally offset relative to the inner layer and provide a positive layer staggering in the one tube wall including the inner layer relative to the respective opposite other tube wall onto which they are folded and with which they are bonded incorporating the side edge of the inner layer included in the positive layer staggering. After filling, the top end of the tubular sack or bag can be closed tightly by welding the inner layer and folding and bonding a tube end part to the outer layer of one tube wall. The packaging container is particularly suitable for moisture-sensitive products, avoids sharp-edged corners in its filled state, has good stability and allows a secure, tight closure of the top end when the filling operation has been completed in a simple manner by machine.
