PURPOSE:To obtain a photographic blocked magenta dye forming coupler high in rate of color development and its max. density, controlled in its deterioration due to aging, and superior in stability, by introducing a specified substituent into the active site of said coupler. CONSTITUTION:A blocked magenta dye forming coupler is represented by formulaIin which Q is a nonmetallic atomic group for forming a magenta dye forming coupler together with N; formula II is a blocking group released from the coupler by its reaction with an oxidized developer; and A is nonmetallic atomic group for forming a 5- or 6-membered ring together with a methine group and a carbonyl group, and the coupler is embodied as a compd. represented by formula III. Said coupler can be used as a coupler both in-emulsion-type and in-developer-type, and in the former case, preferably, it is added in 0.01- 3mol per mol of silver halide contained in a layer. |
