An annular-gap magnet system (1), particularly for low-frequency loudspeakers in which a voice coil (4a) moves with a long travel in the working airgap (3). The loudspeaker diaphragm (3) with the voice coil (4a) is suspended extremely softly and an impingement of the voice coil (4a) is prevented by a braking airgap (9) at the lower pole plate (8), which surrounds the pole core (5) in axial extension of the working airgap (3). Due to the magnetic counterfield which is generated in the braking airgap (9) and in its near vicinity in the reverse direction to the magnetic field in the working airgap (3) and to the internal stray flux (10c), the extremely soft suspension of the voice coil (4a) and of the loudspeaker diaphragm (2) can be achieved without additional mechanical aids. <IMAGE>
