In the case of a process for recording binary information on a magnetic information carrier, in which the two binary characters are represented by opposite magnetic saturation, only the changes in the direction of magnetisation between the track elements of the magnetic information carrier are recorded, in the form of correspondingly directed needle pulses, in such a way that the part of the track elements between two successive needle pulses is not magnetised.
