PURPOSE:To enable simultaneous writing and erasure by only one cell by a constitution wherein three kinds of voltages required for driving complementary solid ECD are prepared from only one cell incorporated in a timepiece. CONSTITUTION:The voltage of a positive electrode of only one source cell E employed for driving ECD is set at VH, and the voltage of a negative electrode thereof as VM. The terminal voltages VH and VM of the cell E supply voltage to a booster circuit 10 to obtain a third voltage VL. The three kinds of voltages VH, VL and VM thus obtained are employed as voltage for driving ECD1. The voltage VM is impressed on a common electrode 12 of ECD1, while a plurality of segment electrodes 1b are connected to the voltage VH in writing and to the voltage VL in erasure, respectively, through the intermediary of a switch circuit 2. The abovementioned constitution has an effect that writing and erasure can be performed simultaneously by only one cell, etc. |
