PURPOSE:To high-precisely and simply measure a quantity of a foaming agent in a low-density organic foaming agent-filled polyethylene composition, by a method wherein a film sample is irradiated with infrared light of 1735 and 1303 in the number of waves to fine an absorbance ratio, and the result is collated with a calibration curve previously provided. CONSTITUTION:A polyethylene composition having a known quantity of an organic foaming agent is press-molded to produce a filmy smaple to perform an infrared analysis. From an infrared absorbance spectrum, a ratio of an absorbance (1303 in the number of waves) of polyethylene to an absorbance (1735 in the number of waves) of a foaming agent is found to provide a calibration curve. An infrared analysis is then made in a similar manner on a polyethylene composition having an unknown quantity of a foaming agent, and a quantity of a foaming agent is found by a calibration curve. 0.2g of a standard composition prepared by mixture of ADCA 0.3, 0.5, and 0.85 into a high-density polyethylene 100 is taken out and pressed under condition of 140 deg. and 200kg/cm<2> to produce a film with the thickness of 120mum and an infrared absorption spectrum and a calibration curve by the film are as shown in a drawing.
|
