PURPOSE:To improve energy efficiency and to provide unique characteristics to the surfaces of materials in plasma surface hardening treatment for materials by using gases contg. org. gases. CONSTITUTION:In the stage of plasma surface hardening treatment for mild steel, non-ferrous metals, inorg. materials, etc., gases contg. org. gases are used for the gases to be run in a glow discharge vessel. For example, one of CO, CO2, methane, ethylene, acetylene, ethane, allene, butene, benzene, butadiene, etc. or a gaseous mixture thereof may be used, or a gaseous mixture of any of steam, ammonia, H2, N2, O2, gaseous halogens and inert gases with org. gases are used. By said method, the homogeneous plasma surface hardening treatment is accomplished in a short time without pollution at a low temp. |
