PURPOSE:To prevent the quenching of some coil from affecting other coils and thereby to minimize the quantity of vaporized liquid helium, by making a cryostat and a protecting system of each coil independent from others. CONSTITUTION:Coils 2 and 3 are accommodated in split cryostats 12 and 13 respectively. To the coils 2 and 3, permanent current switches 42 and 43 and series circuits of internal protection resistances 52 and 53 and internal protection resistance switches 62 and 63 are connected in parallel respectively. Removable current leads 72 and 73 are provided so that input terminals of superconducting magnet units U1 and U2 thus formed can be connected in series to a power source 8. By this construction, the quenching of some coil is prevented from affecting other coils, and thus the quantity of vaporized liquid helium turns to be very small. |
