PURPOSE:To prevent inadvertent opening of a machine body by arranging an image forming device in such a way that unless a cover is opened the machine body cannot be opened. CONSTITUTION:A copying machine 1 is openable from a lower housing 1B when an upper housing 1A is turned about 30 deg. around a shaft 40 to permit easy removal of jammed paper and removal of the respective units of a cleaner 29, a photosensitive drum 2, etc. The opening operation is accomplished by pulling an operating rod 42b to disengage a hook part 42a from a stopper 43 and to press the housing 1A with an energizing member 41. Since the rod 42b cannot be operated unless a front cover 44 is opened, the inadvertent opening of the machine body by the operator during copying is obviated. |
