PURPOSE:To obtain high sensitivity and superior graininess, by using a specified blocked magneta dye-forming coupler. CONSTITUTION:A blocked magenta dye-forming coupler used in this invention is represented by general formulaIin which Q is a nonmetallic atomic group for forming a magenta dye-forming coupler together with N atom; formula II expresses a blocking group, and it is released from the magenta dye-forming coupler after the blocked coupler has reacted with an oxidized developer; X is O, S, N, or mathine group; A is a nonmetallic atomic group needed to form a 5- or 6-membered ring together with C, N, and X, such as pyrazolyl, imidazolyl, pyridyl, or pyrimidyl group; and R1 is a monovalent group, such as carboxy, cyano, nitro, alkylcarbonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, arylcarbonyl, or aryloxycarbonyl. |
