PURPOSE:To prevent harmful effect of UV rays on a silver halide photosensitive material, by adding a UV absorbing polymer latex to the photosensitive material. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive material contains a UV absorbing latex of polymer or copolymer having repeating units derived from a monomer represented by general formula (I) in which R is H, lower alkyl, or chlorine; X is -CONH-, -COO-, or phenylene; A is a linking group represented by 1-20 C alkylene or 6-20 C arylene; Y is -COO-, -OCO-, -CONH-, -NHCO-, -SO2NH-, -NHSO2, -SO2-, or -O-; m, n are each 0 or 1; Q is a UV absorbing group represented by general formula II in which R1-R5 are H, halogen, alkyl, aryl or the like; R6 is H or alkyl; R7 is cyano or the like; and R8 is cyano or the like.
