PURPOSE:To increase a luminous amount signal made incident to one picture element of a sensor and to attain easy discrimination between a line picture and a gradation picture, by adjusting the output timing of a picture signal per main scanning line of a photoelectric converting element scanning an original. CONSTITUTION:A light from a light source 13 is reflected at an original 11 and led to a photoelectric converting element (sensor) 17 via a mirror 14, a lens system 15 and a filter 16. Taking in consideration of the color conditions of the original 11, reflection factor, the light intensity distribution from the light source 13 and light wavelength region or the sensitivity and sensing region of the photoelectric converting element, the filter 16 has a function adjusting the wavelength region of a luminous amount signal S0 and the luminous intensity distribution. The intensity of the light received at the sensor 17 can be adjusted with the luminous amount of the light source 13 at a light intensity adjusting device 131 provided for the light source 13. The signal from the sensor 17 is applied to a signal processing section 18 to attain the original picture discriminating process. |
