The arrangement is intended for insulating the roof of a storage tank or other structure by applying a layer of insulating material and covering this by strips which are secured to rods (2) extending parallel to and fixed to the roof surface. Each rod is held in aligned bores of a number of mounting blocks (4) which are fixed to the roof, e.g. by capacitor discharge welding, and its ends are secured, preferably such that the rod is under tension. The lateral spacing between the parallel rods approximately equals the width of the cover strips.
