The connector uses two metal plates (4,5) lying parallel to each other. Each has a hole cut in it, with a v-shaped point, and the two plates are urged apart in a direction parallel to their common plane. To make a connection the plates are pushed together so that the holes overlap, and then the two wires are inserted. The plates are then released so that they move apart, gripping the wires in the process. The two plates may be the two ends of a single strip of metal, or may be separate pieces of metal. If a single piece of metal is used, then part (15) of the strip may be cut in order to give it some elasticity to urge the end plates together. The plates are biassed by a spring which is accessible from the exterior via a pushbutton which can be operated either manually or by a tool.
|
