PURPOSE:To prevent attachment of air-suspended particles, such as toner, to corotron wires or the like, by holding the distance between a corotron shield and a photoreceptor or a dielectric layer smaller on the upstream side of its rotation and layer on the downstream side, and maintaining the inside of the corotron at a reduced pressure. CONSTITUTION:As a photosensitive drum 3 rotates, an air layer caused by the rotation of the drum 3 is suppressed to form an air stream line 4, so the inside of the corotron shield 1 is reduced in pressure. The upper part of the shield 1 is provided with a number of small holes 6, and clean air contg. little suspended dust, such as toner particles, is introduced through them, thus permitting toner to be prevented from attaching to the inside of the shield 1 and the corotron wires 2, discharge characteristics stabilized for a long time to be obtained. |
