PURPOSE:To obtain a smooth support for photography with a uniform gloss and superior resolving power by coating a paper substrate with a composition prepared by adding titanium oxide coated uniformly with a specified amount of OH groups to a polyolefin resin composition. CONSTITUTION:A masterbatch is prepared by adding titanium oxide powder coated uniformly with 80X10<-5>-200<-5>mole/g OH groups to a polyolefin resin such as polyethylene together with an auxiliary dispersant such as zinc stearate. The amount of the OH groups is obtd. by adding the powder to an NaF soln. of 4.65pH in the presence of an acetic acid-sodium acetate buffer soln. shown by Bulletin of Japan Chemical Society Vol.8, 1057-1061(1978) and by measuring the amount of F<-> to be adsorbed. The amount of the titanium oxide powder added to the polyolefin resin is 30-80wt% of the total amount of the polyolefin composition. The masterbatch is kneaded with a diluted polyolefin resin, and the resulting composition is melted and applied to the paper substrate of a support for photography. Thus, a superior support for photography with surface smoothness and high photographic resolving power is obtd. |
