Initial working method for bending material - bends at end over distance less than half that between rollers

The initial working method is for heavy plate, bar or profiled material to be bent between rollers. The material (5) is bent at one or both ends (6) initially over a length which is less than half the distance between the contact points of three rollers (2,3,4) in a rolling mill in which it is to be finally bent into shape. The alignment and initial bending can be carried out on the same rolling mill, one of whose rollers is adjustable in relation to the other two. A support (8) is inserted in the path of the material between the rollers so as to shorten the path between two of them.
