The frier has a cylindrical outer wall and a cover incorporating a filter. The cover has a reflective screen facing the cooking chamber, and a lower condensation surface and an upper condensation surface defining a chamber. A drainage hole allows condensed liquid to return from the condensation chamber to the cooking chamber. A filter sheet is carried by the upper condensation surface, which is perforated to permit passage from the condensation chamber through the active carbon filter. The condensation water then passes out of the condensation chamber through peripheral drainage holes into a filtered water collector around the outside of the cooking chamber.
