摘要 PURPOSE:To facilitate adjutment of the thrust gap between an armature turning shaft and an output turning shaft of a means for transmitting rotation of the armature turning shaft to the output turning shaft via a speed-reducing planetary gear mechanism, by forming tapered recesses at opposing end faces of the two shafts, and interposing a spherical member between the opposing end faces of the two shafts. CONSTITUTION:A starting motor 1 consists of a magnetic field assembly 2, an armature 3 and a rear bracket 4. A turning shaft 50 having an armature core 9 fitted thereon is formed with a spur gear 13, which is held in mesh with a planetrary gear 14 supported on a pin 21 fixed to a flange 20 that is mounted on an output shaft 52. A helical spline 30 is formed on the outer surface of the output shaft 52, and an outer ring 32 of an over-running clutch 31 is held in mesh with the spline 30 in a freely slidable manner. In such an arramgement, tapered recesses 51, 53 are formed at the opposing end faces of the turning shaft 50 and the output shaft 52, and a spherical member 54 is interposed between these two recesss 51, 53. By employing such an arrangement, it is enabled to adjust the thrust gap between the two shafts 50 and 52 with ease.
