PURPOSE:To miniaturize and reduce the weight of a pump by a method wherein an auxiliary tank for self-priming is provided so as to surround the casing of the pump to start the pump. CONSTITUTION:An adaptor plate 9 for the auxiliary tank is formed at the lower outer periphery of the main frame 3 of the pump 2 while a priming liquid port 10 is formed at one part of the plate 9. The priming liquid is poured through the priming liquid port 10 into the auxiliary tank 15 to fill it prior to the starting of the pump, and the preparation for starting the pump is finished by filling the priming liquid to a level C above the upper end of an opening for a suction pipe 21. When the pump 2 is started, liquid W' in the respective chambers 5 of the casing 4 is sucked up sequentially and is sent to the outside through a discharging pipe 14 by the pump action in accompanied with the rotations of each vanes in the priming liquid, the inside of the auxiliary tank 15 becomes vacuum, reserved liquid W in a main tank 1 is sucked up through the suction pipe 21 to supplement the liqid into the auxiliary tank 15, and the operation of the pump may be continued properly. |
