Prepn. of iron choline 1:1:1 citrate comprises reaction of citric acid with choline bicarbonate in equimolar quantities, at ambient temp. and with elimination of carbon dioxide; followed by reaction with ferric hydroxide at between 50 and 80 deg.C. - Prod. is recrystallised from water or acetone-methanol. It has use in treatment of iron deficiency anaemias.
