<p>The safety belt reel comprises a shaft which carries the belt, one end being spring loaded. The other end has a rectangular extremity (7) and this has a stop (27) each side for a movable locking piece (14). When rotation exceeds a certain value, this movable part engages pawl teeth (13,15) in a fixed element (12). A resilient stop (25) is fitted to the locking piece, made from plastics. Its deformation permits full interlocking of the pawl teeth and, in the event of overstressing, permanent set occurs with the plastics filling a cavity (28) to prevent re-use of the mechanism.</p> |
