Device for the odourless removal of vapours or the like for use in appliances for heat treatment of foods, consisting of a housing (1) with water supply (5) and spraying device (6) for spraying the vapours or gas flow guided through the housing. For the purpose of improving the method of operation, the housing (1) is provided with a precondensation chamber (3), in which a deflection plate (4) is arranged. The precondensation chamber (3) is connected, via a bottom shaft (2'') formed below the deflection plate (4), to a cleaning chamber (7), in which the spraying device (6), which is connected to a fresh water supply (5), is accommodated. <IMAGE>
