The invention is based on racks of this kind, in which a transverse carrier is provided as a main carrier and has both downwardly directed, adjustable supports and also adjustable auxiliary devices such as brackets, bearing elements. In order to permit a large degree of adjustment of the supports and of the auxiliary devices and to achieve a secure fixing of these elements in the operative position, the main carrier is equipped on both sides in the centre with a longitudinal groove into which anchoring elements which can be clamped with respect to one another with oblique tightening engage. The cross-section of the groove is to be symmetrically trapezoidal.
