This device exhibits an opto-electronic transducer stage in which picture element signals of a stationary image are generated line by line. In addition, it contains a recording medium for storing the picture element signals of the individual stopped-motion images via a multiple-track recording stage. The video picture-element signals are digitised in an analog/digital converter (8), each picture element signal consisting of a group of individual n-bit signals and being recorded digitally on a recording medium via the multiple-track recording stage. Each picture element signal is associated with a clock signal recorded on the recording medium, by means of which a clock generator determining the scanning rate in the opto-electronic transducer is driven. <IMAGE>
