An arbitrary number of outgoing optical fibres can be coupled in a constant optical path to an incoming optical fibre which is connected to a deflecting system and is carried along therewith. The deflecting system can be displaced longitudinally in the direction of the axis of the incoming optical fibre and can be positioned with respect to one of the juxtaposed outgoing optical fibres.
