The invention relates to a water-tight fastening device, in particular for fastening cargoes, such as containers and the like, to the corners of ships. The device has a bearing seat which has a slot in a horizontal plane. A reversible cover plate which can be coupled to the bearing seat is provided, and so too is a holding part, such as, for example, a cone, a turning bolt, a bearing lug, cloverleaf cone, etc, which is fastened in one piece to the cover plate. The bearing part is brought to the top for projecting during operation in order to fasten the cargo and is held under the bearing plate in the slot of the bearing seat when the cover plate is turned over to the bottom. A T-shaped bar is passed perpendicularly through the cover plate in a freely movable manner and has at one end a transversely running handle key which with regard to the holding part lies on the opposite side, a stop piece being provided at the other end of the T-shaped bar. A notch or an extension is provided at the bottom end of the holding part and a pair of wedge parts are arranged beneath the slot. The wedge parts come into engagement with the notch, the extension or the handle key in order to fasten the cover plate relative to the bearing seat. Water-tight packing rings are provided on the cover plate and the bearing seat at the necessary locations. Consequently, when the holding part is fitted so as to be positioned upwards on the deck, the hatch cover or the tank top of the loading area, it can be used to fasten cargoes. When the holding part is in its reversed position reaching down into the slot and is turned into the locking position, the cover plate can hold the upper surface of the fastening device in alignment with and in the same plane as the surface of the surrounding components. In this way, the device can be kept water-tight and free of dirt from water and cargo sediments which could otherwise penetrate into the recess of the bearing seat through the slot. <IMAGE>
