The napkin is supplied complete with securing bands coated with pressure-sensitive adhesive temporarily covered with removable protection strips. The napkin is concertina-folded inwards on four longitudinal fold lines, two on each side of the centre line. One lateral edge is folded inwards to form a reinforced waist band of waterproof material bounding the adjacent edge of the absorbant pad. The securing bands and their protection strips are permanently attached to spaced locations on the reinforced band. The protection strips are positioned on the band adhesive areas when the napkin is in its folded, as-supplied condition. When the strips are pulled clear of the adhesive to allow the napkin to be moulded for fitting, the strips remain fixed to the reinforced waistband. The reinforced band in the area of the waist reduces to a minimum the danger of leakage from the absorbant pad. The securing bands hold the napkin in its folded condition until required for use. The protection strips do not have to be disposed of when the napkin is opened - which can be a nuisance when fitting a napkin. |
