The winding beam (62) is preceded by a pair of rollers consisting of a transport roller (64) and of a pendulously suspended tension-measuring roller (65). The transport roller (64) is arranged in front of the tension-measuring roller (65), as seen from the tending side of the beaming machine (61). The pendulum excursion of the tension-measuring roller (65) is great enough to ensure that, when the machine is at a standstill, the tension-measuring roller can be laid against the transport roller so as to clamp the textile material (71). The textile material (71), coming from a preceding comb (72), is guided rectilinearly to the transport roller (64), looped around the transport roller (64) over more than half the circumference and then looped around the tension-measuring roller (65) over part of the circumference. The textile material (71) is then guided rectilinearly to the winding beam (62). The object is to achieve better accessibility and a better possibility of monitoring the beaming machine, at the same time with a simplification of the machine design and a reduction of the constructional height. <IMAGE>
