For coating by high-temperature spraying, an explosive-coating appliance having a housing (1) is used, on which housing are arranged a tube (2) with an electrical discharger (3), a powder-metering device (4), a mixing device (5) and a feed drive (8) for a relative displacement of the appliance and of a blank. The feed drive (8) is designed as a sprung plate (11) which is arranged on a shaft (12) at the exit from the tube (2) and which has an orifice (16). The shaft (12) of the plate (11) is connected to an output shaft (10) of the drive (8) by means of an overriding coupling (17). <IMAGE>
