PURPOSE:To improve the cooling effect and to facilitate the disassembling and assembling of a rotary electric machine by providing an insulating ring at the end of a stator coil to perform the partitioning function of cooling air and providing an elastic sealing material on the outer periphery of an air guide. CONSTITUTION:An air guide 16 which is supported to the side face of the bearing bracket of a lateral shaft rotary electric machine is provided in parallel with and oppositely to the side face of a rotor. The gap between an insulating ring 15 and the guide 16 is blocked with an elastic sealing material 17 in contact with the bore of the end 11 of a stator coil so as to also reinforce the coil. The sucked cooling air first cools the end of the end 11 of the stator coil and is then accelerated by the fan operation of a rotor center 7 and a rotor yoke 6, is flowed radially from the bore side of the rotor pole 4 toward the outer peripheral side of a stator core 3, thereby cooling the pole 4 and the core 3. Part of the cooling air flows the rotor exciting coil 5 and the root of the stator coil end 11, thereby cooling them to a heat exchanger 1. |
