PURPOSE:To obtain a small-sized remote station with low power consumption by utilizing light pulses reflected at each remote station and thus transmitting data. CONSTITUTION:Frame pulses are generated by a frame pulse generating circuit 7 at specific intervals of time and supplied to an electrooptic converting circuit 8 to obtain light pulses, which are passed through optical fibers 9, 10, 11, etc., and branched by optical branching devices 12 and 13 to reach remote stations 14 and 15. On receiving arrival light pulses, the remote stations 14 and 15 reflect those reflected light pulses with reflectance corresponding to a data signal to be sent, and the reflected pulses are inputted to the optical fibers again. Namely, the reflected light pulses enter the optical fibers 10 and 11 through the optical branching devices 12 and 13 and travel in the opposite direction to said light pulses to reach an optical directional coupler 16. This optical directional coupler 16 branches the light signal, which is supplied to an optical receiving circuit 17. |
