A blast-furnace plant, comprises a counterpressure blast furnace (1), a throat-gas cleaning system (2), an optional energy recovery system (3) incorporating an expansion turbine (4), and a counter- pressure control system (5) comprising a pressure regulating valve (6) to regulate the throat-gas pressure in the throat (7) of the counter- pressure blast furnace (1) and a counter-pressure regulator having an actual pressure monitor (8), a controller (9) and setting means (10) for the pressure regulating valve. Disturbances which arise as a result of operational changes such as charging operations can affect the normal operating conditions over a limited period by altering the volume of throat gas produced. The counter-pressure regulator compensates for the changes in the volume of throat gas during disturbed periods, in conformity with the control signals. The flow rate of throat gas is held constant by compressing or expanding the throat gas in the counterpressure blast furnace. <IMAGE> |
