A compressor comprises axially spaced rows of rotor blade 4 and, interposed between each pair of rotor blade rows, a row of stator blades 10. The inner ends of each row of stator blades carries a shroud 16 which has radially inwardly extending flanges 18 forming a trough. The trough is filled with an abradable seal material, e.g. rubber, nickel aluminide polyester, nickel graphite or nickel chrome polyester, preferably by spraying. The abradable seal material co-operates with radially outwardly extending sealing fins 6 on the rotor 2. <IMAGE> |
