PURPOSE:To eliminate the need to connect a printer to a computer, etc., through a cable by incorporating an IC card reader in the printer. CONSTITUTION:When an IC card not shown in figure is inserted from an IC card insertion port 12, the IC card reader 11 reads the contents in the IC card. They are fetched into the main body of the printer 1 through an IC card reader interface cable 15, an I/O connector 13 and an interface cable 14, and recorded in a recording paper 8 with a cartridge ribbon 16. Thus only by inserting the IC card into the required insertion port, the contents of the card are easily printed. Since no cable is connected, the degree of freedom in terms of installation places can be offered.
