PURPOSE:To precisely cut steel string, etc., conformity to the length thereof to be cut by providing a movable material detecting means at a position corresponding to said length downstream from a dividing shear. CONSTITUTION:A control device 10 issues a positioning instruction to movable material detectors 16, 15 by menas of cutting information 13 instructed from a rolling operator, and thereby such positioning control shall be executed that a truck 15 is positioned downstream from a dividing shear 1 corresponding to the length to be cut. When a material subjected to rolling process passes through the detector 16 via the material detector 2 and the shear 1, a material detecting signal is taken in, and a cutting instruction is issued if there is a detection signal 11 from the material detector 2, allowing the material to be cut down by the shear 1. |
