[Also in Division E2] An adjustable buckle-strap fastening assembly for securing adjacent portions of an article, comprises a buckle including a base 1 secured to one of the article portions 7 and provided with lugs 3, 4 each formed with a slot 5 or 6 for receiving the end of a strap 10 adapted to be attached to the other article portion 8, one of the lugs being disposed adjacent an edge of an article portion 7, juxtaposed to the other article portion, the other lug being spaced inwardly of the edge, a strap 10 passing through the slots and reversely bent to again extend through the first slot 6 and means provided between the lugs so as to engage a portion of the strap extending between the slots to deflect the strap portion away from the base of the buckle. As shown, in which the article portions define an opening in the instep of a shoe, the means for deflecting the strap away from the base 1 is a snap stud 9 attached to the portion 7 and which is engaged in an aperture 2 in the base 1. In another arrangement, Fig. 6 (not shown), the buckle is permanently attached to a shoe portion and the other end of the strap carries as socket for engagement with a stud attached to an adjacent shoe portion 12. Preferably the buckle is made of a plastics material. |
