1,093,648. Traversing arrangements for pickup arms. MATSUSHITA ELECTRIC INDUSTRIAL CO. Ltd, May 18, 1965 [May 19, 1964; May 20, 1964; June 1, 1964; Sept. 17, 1964; Nov. 20, 1964; Dec. 14, 1964 (2); April 6, 1965], No. 21089/65. Heading G5R. In order to move the pick-up head 10 in a radial path P across a record, the tone arm 11 is pivotally mounted for movement about a vertical axis D on a bracket 14 which is movable horizontally in a direction BC above a cylinder 16 rotated by the turntable by means of a belt 37. A roller 66, Fig. 3 (not shown), rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the axis E of the tone arm, is mounted on the bracket 14 so as to be driven by the cylinder 16, Fig. 2 (not shown). Any inclination of the axis of the tone arm with respect to the path P, e.g. to position F, causes a corresponding inclination of the roller 66 with respect to thb cylinder, so that the bracket is driven in the direction B until the tone arm is again perpendicular to the path P, e.g. at 11a. Transmission of vibrations to the head is minimized by the use of small steel balls in the bearings of the various moving parts.
|
