PURPOSE:To pick up an area in an optional range in an optional direction while keeping original resolution by disposing a pointing mirror having two degrees of freedom in front of an image pickup element. CONSTITUTION:A vertical rotary shaft 7 of the pointing mirror 6 ditermining the vertical and horizontal directions of an optical axis is perpendicular to a horizontal rotary shaft 8 and the mirror 6 can change the direction of the optical axis two-dimensionally. A high resolution optical system 9 and a two-dimensional CCD image pickup element 10 attain two-dimensional high resolution image pickup independently. High resolution image pickup in an optional range in an optional direction can be attained for a short time by picking up an image after previously pointing a specific area while rotating the mirror 6 and then repeatedly picking up another image after pointing the adjacent area. |
