<p>A filter assembly particularly for the filtration of compressed air and other compressed gases as well as for air and liquids is formed with a pair of porous support jackets having a filter element located therebetween and defining an inlet side. The filter element is composed of a plurality of layers of filter material having different porosities with the finely porous layer being covered, at least on its surface facing the inlet side of the filter assembly, by a less finely porous layer and the filter element is particularly characterized in that it contains active charcoal. This filter element absorbs all oil vapors and odours. The compressed air, leaving the filter assembly after filtration is completely sterile and free from all corrosive and undesirable components.</p> |
