PURPOSE:To decrease initial interface resistance between a solid electrolyte and a cathode by forming an anode comprising lithium or lithium alloy on one side of the solid electrolyte, and a cathode through a thin layer of metal halide on the other side of the solid electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:A thin layer 3 comprising metal halide is formed by means of vapor deposition and others between a solid electrolyte 1 and a cathode 4. The metal halide fills gaps between the cathode 4 and the solid electrolyte 1 without giving an large adverse effect on discharge reaction of Li<+> ion, and interface resistance caused by the gap is decreased. Metal halides forming the thin layer 3 are typically LiX (X is halogen such as I, Cl, Br) and also include of Pb, Al, Sn, Ag, or Cu. LiX itself functions as a Li<+> ion conductor. Metal halide of Pb, Al, Sn, Ag, or Cu reacts with Li<+> ion in an initial stage of discharge to form LiX which is an ion conductor. |
