PURPOSE:To permit the high speed printing operation of a printing head without extra moving operation by a method in which the positions at which the printing head is moved to one direction and stopped are selected according to the printint start positons of the next lines in a printer capable of performing printing in both normal and reverse directions. CONSTITUTION:After printing is made to a position pi2 by a printing head, whether stop starting digit is passed by is judged, and at a time when feeding is made to a position p'2, stop control is started. Whereupon, the printing head is decelerated and stopped at a stop position p2 with a stop distance (d'). The stop digit p2 stands for a slow running start p2 for the next line 2 and sufficient slow running distance (d) is left to the printing start digit pi2. Thus, the needs to adjust the slow running start position of the printing head for the printing of the next line 2 is eliminated. In this same way, the printing head is sequentially controlled for stoppage. |
