PURPOSE:To prevent any breakdown of foils which might be caused during the sealing or the life of an electric-discharge lamp by connecting metallic-foil conductors in such a manner that they are sleevable on at least one of an inner and an outer conductor. CONSTITUTION:A separator glass 7 made of quartz glass is interposed between an inner conductor 5 and an outer conductor 6 which is on the electric power source side. Plural pieces of high-melting-point metallic foils 8 made of molybdenum or the like are positioned around the conductor 5, the conductor 6 and the glass 7, and are connected to the conductor 6 by spot welding. The other ends of the foils 8 are located along the outer circumference surface of the conductor 5 so that they are sleevable on the conductor 5. After that, holding ribbons 9 made of a high-melting-point metal such as molybdenum is wound around the foils 8, and spot-welded to the conductor 5. At the non-welded parts of the holding ribbons 9, the other ends of the foils 8 are inserted into the spaces formed between the conductor 5 and the ribbons 9. |
