PURPOSE:To provide a titled jet printer which can print at a high speed in high quality with small capacity of a memory by providing a character generator which is composed of small matrix and deflecting amount switching means. CONSTITUTION:In an ink jet printer for printing a character with dot matrix at the prescribed dot pitch, a character generator 7 which is composed of a matrix smaller than the dot matrix and means which is composed of the same dot matrix as the printing matrix for characters and symbols by switching the deflection amount (such as proportional correction table conversion memory) are provided, one line of the dot matrix is composed over one line of the matrix structure of the generator 7, and the one line of the printing matrix can be printed by switching the deflection amount. |
