Title compd. I(A = formula II, III or naphthalene-α,β-O substituted with CH3, Cl, Br; Y = CH2, S, SO, SO2 and A-Y = V) useful as chronic diabetes remedies and their innoxious metallic salts were prepd. A mixt. of ketone II, KCN, EtOH and (NH4)2CO3 was successively heated in a steel bomb, extd., dehydrated (MgSO4), filtrated and residues recrystd. to give 2',3'-dihydro-spiro≮imidazolidine-4,4'-≮4'H≉-naphtha≮2,1-6≉ thiopyranyl≉-2,5-dione. Above derivatives had suppression effects of diabetes generation ED50 mg/kg (mice) i.p.
