PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound useful as an intermediate of a remedy for peptic ulcer, economically, by reacting a specific phenol derivative with prenyl chloride, etc. in the presence of a base, using a specific quaternary compound or a crown ether compound as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound useful as an intermediate of chalcone derivative, etc., is prepared in a short time, in high yield, economically,using a chloride which is inexpensive and easily handleable compared with a bromide, by reacting the compound of formulaI[R1-R3 are H, OH, group of formula II or formula III (n is integer of 0-19; m is integer of 1-5; R is H or alkyl); R4 is H, alkyl, group of formula IV or formula V (R5-R7 are group of R1-R3); provided that at least one of R1-R3 and R5-R7 is OH]with the compound of formula VI or formula Cl(CH2)mCOOR in the presence of a base and a catalyst selected from a quaternary ammonium or quaternary phosphonium bromide or iodide or a crown ether compound. |
