PURPOSE:To permit alloying of a connecting rod with Al without deteriorating the durability of said connecting rod by forming a reinforcing part bulged outside, on the connecting rod made of a material having a larger thermal expansion rate than that of a piston pin. CONSTITUTION:A reinforcing part 5 which is symmetrical at right and left and bulged outside on a large scale in circular form is formed integrally between the outer peripheral surface 2A of the small edge part 2 of a connecting rod and the vicinity of the root of a connecting rod 3. Consequently, the bending moment M generated by an inertial force F is kept equal, but the bending stress (f) on the inner periphery 4 of the small edge part is reduced sharply by the reinforcing part 5 having a T-figure-shaped cross section (rib form), and the synthetic stress with the tensile stress due to the inertial force F can be reduced sufficiently to the stress value below the fatigue limit. Thus, alloying on the connecting rod is made possible. |
