The safety coffin calls attention if the body inside shows signs of life, and comprises a single box (1) with a spring-loaded lid (2,8). The slightest movement of the body simultaneously opens the lid and sets off an alarm. The catch of the lock holding the lid shut can be controlled by wires connected to the limbs and the movable areas of the trunk e.g. the thorax. Apertures can be provided to allow circulation of ambient air in the event of revival, and preventing it on death as the result of chemical action. A sealed safety porthole can be provided, to allow inspection of the interior.
