PURPOSE:A cosmetic, containing a water-insoluble water absorbing polymer consisting of fibroin, a crosslinking monomer, an anionic monomer or further a nonionic monomer as an emulsifying agent, having improved emulsion stability, etc. without irritant action on the skin, and capable of giving improved properties to hair. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic containing 0.05-5.0wt% water-insoluble water absorbing polymer consisting of 1-40wt% fibroin (regenerated), 0.1-5wt% crosslinking monomer, e.g. ethylene glycol dimethacrylate, 60-95wt% anionic monomer, e.g. acrylic acid, and 0-20wt% nonionic monomer, e.g. an acrylic ester, as an emulsifying agent. The cosmetic has improved emulsion stability, viscosity stability, humectant property in use, water resistance, touch, make-up durability, etc. without irritant action on the skin and is capable of giving softness, smoothness and gloss to the hair. The water absorption of the polymer is at least 60ml/g, and the cosmetic may further contain ethanol. |
