PURPOSE:To obtain a reflective optical memory which uses a recording layer to a single layer film of a solid-state coloring matter and irradiates a recording and reproducing laser light from the side of a transparent substrate to facilitate the protection of the recording layer and to perform the recording and reproduction of information. CONSTITUTION:A solid-state coloring matter thin film 1 is formed on a transparent substrate 2. This film 1 has >=15% reflectance for the light given from the side of the substrate 2 with the wavelength of the reproduced laser light. A laser condensing beam 3 is irradiated from the rear side of the substrate 2. Thus the recording/reproduction is carried out through the substrate 2. A cyanine and triallyl methane coloring matters are especially suited to this optical memory. |
